Multiple flame detectors to meet customer needs

Viking UniVario fire detection systems are available in various models to meet customer needs in specific environments. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, these systems operate effectively in clean rooms, harsh conditions, confined spaces, and even explosion-hazardous areas. Depending on customer needs, our variants include:

  • 3x3-channel fast flame detectors.
  • Ultraviolet flame detectors.
  • 3-channel infrared flame detectors.
  • Standard heat detectors (up to 90°C).
  • High-temperature detectors (up to 850°).

The new UniVario YMX5000 industrial fire detector consists of a control unit and up to three remote sensor units for fast flame detection. The YMX5000 FMX sensor units are connected to the control unit via cables, enabling application in confined spaces.

The sensor units are designed to detect open flames that can occur during the combustion of materials containing carbon, such as methane, oil products, plastics, and wood.

The sensor unit is also available in an EX version, suitable for use in explosion-hazardous zones 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22.

Flame detectors with modular design

UniVario industrial fire detectors feature a modular design that allows for seamless adaptation to various applications. Unlike most other available industrial fire detectors, these flame detectors can be easily integrated into a full fire detection system by solely plugging in a module. This unique capability enables precise event reporting, linking alarms directly to specific detectors, while allowing fire alarm and extinguishing control panels to initiate necessary actions.

Their ability to intelligently suppress disturbance variables, along with high and accurate response temperatures, enhances their versatility, even in explosion-hazardous areas. The application-specific configuration of signal processing allows for easy adaptation to changing operating conditions. Moreover, the operational dependability is bolstered by microcontroller-based function monitoring, sensor testing, and robust protective features such as IP67 rating, oil leak tightness, and resistance to impact and vibration.

Use in explosion-risk areas

UniVario industrial fire detectors offer specialized variants for use in areas with gas and dust explosion risks.

  • Standard UniVario variants are suitable for applications without explosion hazards. 
  • 3GD series detectors are designed for use in Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust) environements. 
  • UniVario Ex series detectors are intrinsically safe, making them ideal for Zone 1 (gas) and Zone 20 and 21 (dust) 

All variants can functions as analogue addressable detectors, with the uniVario Ex series requiring an additional electronic safety barrier. 

Quick installation

With a range of accessories, the UniVario enables quick and easy installation. These accessories include:

  • Universal mounting brackets: for flexible installation in any position.
  • Air shield MX5000: protects the optics and reflectors from dirt, dust or powder-filled environments
  • Relay module KMX 500 RK: allows the detector to operate as a stand-alone device or in any hazard detection and PLC control devices
  • Air flushing MX50000 Impulse: keeps the optics and reflectors clean to ensure reliable performance
  • Socket UniVario MX5000 LCD: displays status and message texts of all fire detectors
  • Console MX5000: allows fire detectors to be installed outside the areas to be monitored
